Asymmetrical Plate Display

As my creative side begins to have more space in my life, the rules I would apply before are beginning to shift. My orderly life needed to have everything symmetrical and matching. The theme of symmetry would show up everywhere! Even in the garden. Time to shake things loose.

One great thing about embracing asymmetry is the opportunity to let each beautiful item sing its own song. This plate is gorgeous! It is masterfully detailed. (Zoom in!) Prior to displaying this plate, my kitchen wall consisted of 5 items; a platter, and two paired plates on each side. But asymmetry gives the unique unmatched plate a place to be seen.

When you embrace asymmetry you can focus on flow and balance in regard to where your eye travels. I appreciate a curved approach.

I found this mirror at an estate sale and removed the stain finish. I’m trying to create opportunities for light to reflect from windows. The mirror on its own felt lonely. It’s a good thing I keep a large collection of brown transferware plates set aside. *Buy what you love – even if at the exact moment you don’t know where you’ll put it.
