Audubon Decoupage
I love the artwork of John James Audubon. So naturally when I found an old book filled with his bird prints at an estate sale, I snatched it up. His incredible images couldn’t stay locked up in a book.

I found this marble swan planter at an estate sale. I only paid $125 for it! It is so gorgeous. Pictures don’t do it justice. After lots of washing and scrubbing, it made its way into my home.

Our house has a built-in alcove right near our front door. It had untapped potential. So the swan planter and Audubon prints joined forces.

Directions:
Step 1: Cut out the bird prints. (The book is so full of prints, I used less than half for this project.)
Step 2: Lay out the prints on the floor to get an idea what looks good.
Step 3: Create a usable work space which included a table, plastic drop cloth, gloves, and tape.
Step 4: Coat a portion of the wall, and the back of the print with Gorilla Spray Adhesive. Press the page to the wall using a plastic notebook divider to keep your gloved fingers from becoming stuck. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Take a tea-break.
Step 5: Add some additional smaller prints on top of the other prints to create balance, and disrupt areas that have gaps.
Step 6: Wait for everything to dry overnight and then spray the wall with a matte or satin sealer.
Finally, add the finishing touches. It took months before I found what looked good above the swan planter. I tried different things until finally I found the perfectly-imperfect old mirror.
