Fall + Tulips
I found these pumpkin-orange tulips at Trader Joes and I knew I needed them in my home!
The ironstone pitcher has a special story. A few years ago my daughter and I stumbled across a local estate sale that was poorly advertised. We took a chance. It paid off! Two young men were clearing out their great-aunt’s home. She had so many treasures! (My house lacked the necessary storage and I walked away from things I still think about today.) I did a final walk-through of the space, looking up, down, everywhere. There was the lovely pitcher! Tucked under a table, practically hidden from view. So, the lessons learned are;
- Don’t let lack of storage hold you back! (This is an organized hoarder speaking.)
- Always do a final walkthrough at an estate sale.
In this little vignette I wanted to add some texture. So I incorporated a few vintage balls of tatting cord/ crochet thread.
I have a large bag of these vintage balls of thread. At the time I bought them, I had no idea what I would do with them. They have untapped potential – which excites me.
This ironstone pitcher is made in England by Wm. Adams and Sons. I absolutely love it because it is beautifully aged with crazing – fine hairline cracks in the glaze. And yet it still holds water perfectly. The shades of caramel to cream make it even more lovely.
